The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department wants to thank the community for bringing in more than 40,000 pounds of food in a short window of time at the 30th Annual Salvation Army Project Porchlight Food Drive.
“Over 43,000 pounds of food was collected in a little over 3 hours,” said Fire Prevention Officer Mike Vadlja. “It is truly amazing to see the support from our community. We have surpassed last year’s numbers by at least 5,000 pounds.”
The department also wants to thank their volunteers who took the time to collect and sort food donations.
Donations of non-perishable food items can still be made at the Salvation Army Church on Mary St. East and at Fire Station #1 on Payne Drive.
