The City of Orillia has declared a significant weather event at 1 p.m. on March 14 due to forecasted rainfall, which could produce 25 millimetres of rain within 24 hours.
Potentially heavy rains and positive temperatures may contribute to ponding and flooding conditions throughout the city as snow melt and rainfall combine. City staff have and will continue to remove accumulated snow over the city’s drainage system to reduce ponding and flooding conditions, according to the city’s statement. Those using roads and sidewalks in the city are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and use caution if doing so.
The declaration will continue until further notice. Call the Operations Division of the Environmental Services and Operations Department at 705-326-4585 with any immediate concerns.
