Arrest Made After Driver Fled The Crash Scene On Hwy 11 In Bracebridge On Wednesday

Bracebridge OPP with Bracebridge Fire Department and Muskoka Paramedic Services were called to a collision on the southbound lanes of Highway 11 south of Cedar Lane, shortly after 8:00 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

A pick up truck towing three snowmobiles crashed into the ditch and hit a tree. The male driver fled the area on foot. Bracebridge OPP were assisted by OPP Canine Unit and Central Region Emergency Response Team in searching the area.

After fleeing on foot,the male stole a canoe and paddled into Bracebridge where he was located by police and taken into custody.

Charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Probation, Theft and Break and Enter is James Rye, 52-years-old, of Huntsville. He is scheduled to appear in Bracebridge court today.
