Councillor Mark Quemby, Chair of the Annie Williams Memorial Park Advisory Committee, together with members of Council, the Committee and Town staff, were on hand to celebrate with the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes the official unveiling of a new concrete ping-pong table and water fountain at Annie Williams Memorial Park.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted by the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes during their Club meeting held at the park this morning. “The Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes is excited to continue its partnership with the Town of Bracebridge by donating over $10,000 for the purchase of the ping-pong table and water fountain both located at the park’s Amphitheatre Pavilion for the community,” stated Club President, Shelly Duben.
“This project is a wonderful example of the Town of Bracebridge and a community service club working together for the benefit of the community”, added Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith. “These additions to the park will benefit residents and visitors”. The Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes, along with the Lions Club of Bracebridge and Rotary Club of Bracebridge, comprise representation on the Annie Williams Memorial Park Advisory Committee providing advice to Council on promoting the preservation and appreciation of the community park and green space; ensuring that the ecological and commemorative integrity of the Park is preserved for present and future generations, in harmony with the wishes of Dr. James Francis Williams; and, promoting Park stewardship including the preservation of the Park’s history as a memorial park and the maintenance of a balance between protecting and regenerating the natural and the historical aspects of the Park with encouraging active use of the Park. “The Town is grateful for the commitment and endorsement of the Club and for the enthusiastic support of the community to ensure project success,” noted Annie Williams Memorial Park Advisory Committee Chair, Councillor Mark Quemby. Annie Williams Memorial Park is managed, operated and maintained by the Town of Bracebridge.
