The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old man this morning in Bala.
Preliminary information suggests the following:
- On the morning of September 29, 2024, an Ontario Provincial Police officer was operating an unmarked police vehicle in Bala.
- At approximately 6 a.m., the police vehicle struck a pedestrian on Highway 169.
- The pedestrian was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Three investigators, three forensic investigators and one collision reconstructionist have been assigned to the case.
