Several Charges Laid In Attempted Bank Fraud

The Orillia OPP has arrested and charged a suspect from North York with several fraud related charges after an attempted bank fraud in Orillia.

On January 28, 2021, shortly before noon, police were called to an Orillia bank and were advised that someone was trying to open an account with fake identification. Officers arrived and located the suspect who identified himself with, what was determined to be, a false name. He was subsequently arrested and a fraud investigation continued. After determining the suspect’s true identity, officers also learned that he was in contravention of numerous conditions.

As a result, Joseph Babatund Okunola, age 47, from North York, has been charged with:
