Ramara Resident Charged After He Fabricated A Story And Reported His Vehicle Stolen

The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a male party after he fabricated a story and reported his vehicle stolen.

On September 20, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m. the Orillia OPP were dispatched to an abandoned vehicle located off Concession Road 1, Ramara Township in a field. Once on scene police discovered no one was on scene and the vehicle had sustained severe damage. Upon further investigation police observed deployed airbags and several alcohol cans throughout the vehicle.

Investigation revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had two outstanding warrants and a suspended license for previous impaired charges.

Later that day at approximately 3:45 p.m. Orillia OPP received a call for service from the owner of the vehicle reporting his vehicle stolen. At 4:00 p.m. officers met with the male where he was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants. The male had noticeable injuries likely caused by an accident.

Dean HOWDEN, 40 years old of Ramara Township, has been charged with Adult Public Mischief.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
