Ramara Celebrates Recreation And Seniors’ Month

The Township of Ramara is celebrating Recreation and Seniors’ Month by offering a variety of events and activities throughout June.

Each June, municipalities and community organizations promote the physical, social and
environmental benefits of indoor and outdoor recreation and the various programs and

activities they offer. As well as Seniors’ Month, it’s a time to recognize the seniors in our

community by celebrating their accomplishments and milestones and promoting
opportunities for social connections and wellness.

“Ramara has great indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, programs and events for all
ages,” states Mayor Clarke. “With almost 50% of our population aged 55 years and older, I

challenge the community to get out this month, check out a program, sign up for a

Pickleball game, or join the Roaming Ramara walking challenge. All these things reinforce

the importance of moving and connecting with others in the community.”

The Ramara Recreation Department will keep the fun going all month with the following
activities and events:

Roaming Ramara walking challenge – Download the “Map My Walk” app and track
your progress as you roam Ramara. Winners will be awarded for the most kilometers

walked at the halfway point and the end.

Pop-up Pickleball games – Sign up for a time slot with your team. Choose a date and
a time and get playing. The price is $4 per person.

Party at the Park – Join in on fun, family-friendly activities on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Yoga with Kathy – Join Kathy Backway for an hour on Thursday, June 22, at 9:30 a.m.
for $10.

Zumba with Julie – Join Julie Clarke for an hour on Wednesday, June 28, at 10 a.m.
for $10.

Picture Perfect Scavenger Hunt – Using the photo prompts posted on social media
every Friday, send photos throughout the week to be featured on Ramara

Recreation’s social media accounts.

“Here at the Ramara Centre, we’re excited to be celebrating the wonderful world of
Recreation and our invaluable seniors in our community,” states Justine Bayne, Recreation

and Community Services Supervisor. “We want Ramara to come out and enjoy some of our

most popular programs and special events we have happening. Take advantage of the fun,

try something new and get active with us this month!”

There will also be a flag-raising event on June 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. to recognize seniors in the Township of Ramara and their contributions as active, essential community members.
