Overnight Parking Restrictions – Winter Maintenance In Bracebridge

0

Bracebridge residents are once again reminded that the overnight parking of motor vehicles on any municipal roadway or within most Town parking lots is prohibited. Town by-laws prohibit the parking of a motor vehicle on any municipal roadway between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from October 16th to April 15th each year. The parking of motor vehicles is also prohibited within most municipal parking lots between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from October 16th to April 15th each year.
The Town does provide several year round overnight parking spaces within the Hiram Street Lot for motorists needing to leave a vehicle parked overnight in the downtown area. These overnight spaces
have been designated for overnight parking and have signage posted indicating that overnight parking is permitted. A map showing the location of the Hiram Street Lot is available on the Town’s website.
The on-street overnight parking restrictions apply to every municipal roadway and are posted at the main vehicular entrances into Bracebridge. The parking lot restrictions are clearly posted within each Town parking lot.
These overnight parking restrictions are in place regardless of the current weather conditions or weather forecast. Winter weather can change quickly and unexpectedly and it is important that the roadways and parking lots be kept free of parked motor vehicles during the restricted overnight hours.
By ensuring that their motor vehicles are not left overnight on a municipal roadway or in a Town parking lot, residents are supporting and enabling the snow plow operators to safely and effectively clear snow,
remove snow banks and apply sand and salt as necessary.
Motor vehicles parked overnight on a municipal roadway or in a Town parking lot may be ticketed and removed at the vehicle owner’s risk and expense. Motor vehicles directly interfering or obstructing with municipal snow removal activities at any time may also be towed and impounded at the vehicle owner’s
risk and expense. The penalty for parking a motor vehicle during prohibited times on a municipal roadway or parking lot is $35.00. The towing and impound charges for a towed motor vehicle may exceed $125.00 per occurrence.
Residents are requested to plan ahead if they anticipate the consumption of alcoholic beverages. By leaving their motor vehicles at home or within a designated overnight parking space, using a designated driver or taxi-cab service, motorists eliminate the possibility of having their vehicles ticketed and possibly towed.
