Orillia OPP Find Impaired Driver At A RIDE Spot Check

The Orillia OPP have arrested and charged a Ramara citizen with impaired driving following a RIDE check in Orillia.

On June 21, 2022, shortly after 10:30 p.m, officers were conducting a R.I.D.E check on Atherley Road in Orillia.  Upon the driver stopping for the R.I.D.E check, officers commenced an impaired driving investigation. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further investigation.

As a result, Eric Lightfoot, 62 years of age, of Ramara, has been charged with:

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is set to appear on August 2, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia. Their vehicle was impounded for 7-days and he was issued an Administrative Drivers Licence suspension for 90 days.

Orillia OPP members have conducted over 200 R.I.D.E checks on local highways, snowmobile trails, and waterways since January 1, 2022.
