Orillia OPP Arrest Three For Impaired In Under Eight Hours

Officers from the Orillia OPP have arrested and charged three drivers with impaired driving related charges during three separate incidents.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., on June 5, 2024, officers of Orillia OPP were alerted to a motor vehicle parked on the side of Highway 11 North in Oro-Medonte Township. Officers arrived on scene and found the male driver to have numerous empty alcoholic beverages in the vehicle and was showing numerous signs of being intoxicated by alcohol.

A short time later, at 10:30 p.m., officers of Orillia OPP were on general patrol at Highway 11 North in Oro-Medonte Township. The officer was conducting speed enforcement when a vehicle was obviously travelling above the posted limit registered a stunt driving speed. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was showing signs of being intoxicated by alcohol.

Again, at 1:00 a.m., on June 6, 2024, officers were on general patrol in the area of Atherly Road, in the City of Orillia when a motor vehicle was observed proceeding through numerous amber lights, at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop, upon speaking with the driver, an odour of alcohol was coming from the driver’s breath. The driver continued to show signs of being intoxicated by alcohol.

The accused parties are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in July 2024. Their driver’s licences were suspended for 90 days, and vehicles were impounded for a period of 7 days.
