Orillia Appoints New GM Of Development Services And Engineering

The City of Orillia would like to congratulate Jamie Galloway and welcome him in his new role as General Manager of Development Services and Engineering.

Following an extensive recruitment process, Council appointed Mr. Galloway to his new role at the June 17, 2024, Council meeting on the recommendation of the recruitment panel, which consisted of Mayor Don McIsaac, Coun. Tim Lauer, Coun. Jeff Czetwerzuk, Chief Administrative Officer Gayle Jackson, and Director of Human Resources Lori Bolton.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to congratulate Mr. Galloway on his well-deserved appointment,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “Mr. Galloway has a wide range of development and engineering experience and has been an asset to the City since his arrival. The work of the Development Services and Engineering Department is crucial to our community’s growth and infrastructure enhancement and we look forward to working with Mr. Galloway to continue the great work we are already doing and achieve new milestones together.”

Mr. Galloway has been with the City of Orillia since 2023 and has held the roles of Development Coordinator and Director of Engineering. He has extensive experience with more than 31 years in construction, development and municipal engineering in both the private and public sectors. He has managed many significant development and construction projects during his career, including the Muskoka Wharf project in Gravenhurst and the completion of all phases of the Centennial Drive Area Improvements and now Laclie Street Phase 1 and 2 in Orillia.

“I am honoured to take on this new challenge as the General Manager of Development Services and Engineering and look forward to working with Council, the Strategic Leadership Team and our professional and talented staff team to continue enhancing our community’s infrastructure, ensuring high-quality services, and making a positive impact together,” said Galloway.

Mr. Galloway will start in his new role at the end of June following the retirement of the current General Manager, Ian Sugden. Mr. Galloway will lead the City’s Development Services and Engineering Department, which is responsible for engineering, parks planning, legislative services, building, parking, transit, planning, and housing.

I look forward to him joining the Strategic Leadership Team to assist in moving forward the priorities of Council and our community as we continue to grow.”
