The Southern Georgian Bay OPP along with other local authorities issued a warning to the public about open water on Georgian Bay after the Motor Vessel Indian Maiden made a trip to Cedar Point for repairs to the propeller and shaft on April 9, causing the ice to separate.

Beausoleil First Nation is advising all local towns and municipalities of the open water and unsafe ice conditions. The ice surface hazard extends from Christian Island to Cedar Point. The OPP are requesting all snowmobilers avoid travelling in this area. Members of the OPP, Anishinabek Police Service (APS) and Chief and Council of the Beausoleil First Nations Band said they want to remind all ice surface users that no ice is safe ice.
