OPP Investigating Serious Assault In Orillia

Update –

On February 2nd, 2024, Jeremy John, a 51-year-old male form Orillia was arrested and charged with  Aggravated Assault

The accused remains in custody and is being held pending a bail hearing.

Previous Story:

The Orillia Detachment Major Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in the City of Orillia.

On February 1, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Orillia OPP officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Davey Dr. Upon arrival, officers located the victim in their residence with serious injuries. Paramedics attended and transported the victim to the local hospital. The victim was later transferred to a trauma hospital for treatment.

The incident was targeted. There is no threat to public safety.    

The Orillia Detachment Major Crime Unit (MCU) along with members of the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) continue to investigate this on-going investigation.
