OPP Investigating Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Midland

The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fail-to-remain motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the Town of Midland.

On August 12, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to a report of a collision on Wellington Street involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Upon arrival, the OPP, Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Midland Fire Department located the pedestrian with serious injuries. The involved vehicle was no longer on scene. The pedestrian was transported to a Toronto-area hospital by emergency medical services.

The intersection of Wellington Street and Robert Street was closed during the investigation.
A short time later, investigators located and seized a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and charges have not been laid at this time.

The Southern Georgian Bay OPP Major Crime Unit is conducting the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, and OPP Forensic Identification Services.
