Some good news for nature lovers: Ontario Parks is offering free day use visits from Monday to Thursday this season while also extending the validity of several vehicle permits.
Ontario Parks will offer free day use visits from Monday to Thursday between May 1 and Sept. 2, though visitors will still need a permit to visit parks on Fridays and on weekends. The parks service is also extending the expiry date for permits by one year. The 2021 Annual and Commercial Daily Vehicle Permit expiry date will be extended to Dec. 31, 2022 while the 2021 Summer Daily Vehicle Permit will now be valid April 1 to Nov. 30 for both the 2021 and 2022 seasons. No action is required on the part of the permit holder as the expiry extensions will be applied automatically.
Customers with a 2020-21 Annual Permit are able to use it until Dec. 31 this year and do not need to purchase a new permit for the 2021 season. Those looking to return their 2021 seasonal permit for a full refund should send their request to Ontario Parks by June 30. Permits can be returned in-person at a park office, once offices open, or by mail.
