Ontario Invests $544,350 To Support Tourism And Recreational Opportunities In West Parry Sound

The Ontario government is investing $544,350 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) in two economic development projects in the Parry Sound region. This investment will improve municipal infrastructure, boost tourism, and improve quality of life in Northeastern Ontario.

“This investment into West Parry Sound reflects our government’s commitment to ensuring rural and northern communities have the resources they require to grow and prosper,” said Graydon Smith, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka. “We’re making targeted investments into people, businesses and infrastructure that will facilitate economic growth and increase quality of life for local residents.”

The NOHFC is funding the following projects:

“Our government is committed to revitalizing community infrastructure here in the Parry Sound region and across the North,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development. “We are focused on keeping our northern communities competitive and current, making them attractive places to live, work, play and do business.”

The NOHFC promotes economic prosperity across Northern Ontario by providing financial assistance to projects—big and small, rural and urban—that stimulate growth, job creation and skills development. Since June 2018, the NOHFC has invested more than $613 million in 5,214 projects in Northern Ontario, leveraging more than $1.94 billion in investment and creating or sustaining over 8,240 jobs.
