New Purple Banner Initiative Launched By Local Artists As Part Of ARTrail Muskoka

A group of 67 Muskoka artists have come together to create ARTrail Muskoka, an art initiative where artists and galleries fly purple banners throughout the region to connect local art to art lovers, and the project will launch on May 6.

Modelled after a similar trail in British Columbia, ARTrail Muskoka includes 67 artists gathered by artist Bonnie Bews and her organizing committee. ARTrail Muskoka provides a brochure and map listing the location of participating artist studios and artist-run galleries organized by region. Each artist operates independent hours, so when the purple banners are out, the artist is open for business. The project was initiated to offer local artists more exposure to the public and to help art lovers find and connect with the art community all year long, according to the organizers.

To plan your art experience, pick up a brochure at Muskoka businesses, resorts, Chambers of Commerce or tourism offices. For more information, email artrailmuskoka@gmail.com, or visit ARTrail Muskoka on their website or on social media through Facebook and Instagram.
