Muskoka Paramedic Services announced on Dec. 20 that Stuart McKinnon, an employee of over 10 years, accepted the position of deputy chief.
McKinnon has worked with the paramedic services since 2007 in various positions including primary care paramedic, treasurer/steward and commander. Prior to accepting the full role, he was also the acting deputy chief starting in October of this year. He said he’s excited to start as deputy chief after so many years with the service.
“Starting in 2007, I’ve worked my way up here with these people that I’ve worked on the road with responding to emergencies,” McKinnon said. “It’s awesome to be able to guide them and support them and be their mentor and their leader as we go forward.”
McKinnon said he’s happy to continue his career with Muskoka Paramedic Services and to continue his life in Muskoka.
“It’s pretty amazing when you can work a whole career in Muskoka,” he said. “When I was young, I never said I was going to come back here, but I’m so thankful that I did and so thankful that I’m able to contribute to the community and raise a family here.”
