Moose Deer Point Resident Charged With Impaired Driving

A single vehicle crash on Scarlett Line Road, Tay Township resulted in a 911 call at 3:59 p.m. May 11, 2024 for emergency services to attend the location with the two occupants of the vehicle found to be uninjured as a result of the crash.

The crash investigation however netted the driver, Christopher Caines 33 years of Brampton a number of violations from four different statues as follows.

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 20, 2024 on these charges.

Earlier in the day at 4:45 a.m., officers acted on a driving complaint from the motoring public of a possible impaired driver heading east from Midland on Heritage Drive near William Street.

An OPP Officer on patrol was able to locate the suspect vehicle near Vent’s Beach Road, Tay Township who initiated a traffic stop which ended safely. The officer spoke with the driver of the vehicle which also contained two female passengers and entered into an impaired driving investigation at the scene.

As a result of this investigation and a further investigation at Detachment, Mathew Williams 29 years of Moose Deer Point has been charged criminally with the offence of Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 30, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
