Calls from community into the OPP reporting two separate possible impaired driving occurrences has resulted in two drivers being removed from area roadways after investigation by officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP.
Officers responded at 5:53 a.m. March 8, 2022 to an incident on Ellen Street, Midland and located the suspect vehicle and commenced a drinking and driving investigation of the driver resulting in Dustin Cronk 26 years of Tay Township being charged with the following offences.
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 24, 2022.
Officers on patrol responded to a report of a single vehicle crash where the vehicle had left the scene on William Street, Tay Township at 1:02 a.m. March 8, 2022. Shortly afterwards officers stopped a vehicle nearby and entered into a impaired driving investigation and seized a quantity of cannabis. Charged is Niikolas Lalonde 21 years of Midland with the following offences.
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Fail to have insurance card
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit
The accused was released from custody on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 14, 2022.
In both instances the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the accused’s drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
