Mayor Graydon Smith presented the Mayor’s Award of Excellence to the citizens of Bracebridge for their response to this year’s flooding at the Community Recognition and Sport Awards Ceremony at Rene M. Caisse Theatre on May 28.

The Town of Bracebridge also recognized the volunteer and sport-related achievements of local residents at the ceremony. The Bracebridge Mayor’s Award of Excellence Program recognizes individuals, groups or organizations for their contributions to the betterment of the Town of Bracebridge. The Mayor’s award is presented to those who may not otherwise receive the thanks and recognition they deserve, according to the release. Ten individuals that were directly involved in the community’s flood response accepted the award on behalf of all of the town’s citizens at the event on Tuesday evening.

“Our community came together, with extraordinary kindness and generosity. We have truly shown our strength as a town. To everyone who helped, a little or a lot, you are all remarkable,” Smith said. “I am inspired by everyone in our incredible town. Your dedication and commitment to each other helps to make our community a better place to live.”
