Male Guilty For Unlawfully Possessing Over-Limit Of Grouse And Obstructing Conservation Officers

The Ontario government is safeguarding grouse populations from illegal hunting.

Allan Pascoe of Cobalt pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing an over-limit of grouse and obstructing conservation officers. He was fined a total of $5,000. Pascoe also received a lifetime ban from possessing, applying for, or obtaining a hunting licence and cannot take part in any activity that requires a hunting licence.

The court heard that on December 19, 2022, New Liskeard conservation officers executed a search warrant on Pasco’s residence. Conservation officers were obstructed from entering the residence for over an hour. Once conservation officers gained access, they found two large boxes of frozen grouse hidden in the shower. Pascoe was in possession of 91 grouse, 76 over his legal possession limit of 15.

Justice of the Peace Jean-Marie Blier heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Haileybury, on March 2, 2023.
