Lake Of Bays Declares Significant Weather Event

Due to substantial snowfall amounts in the area, The Township of Lake of Bays has declared a Significant Weather Event (By-law 2020-103) for the municipality. Degrading road conditions from large accumulations of snow have resulted in winter clearance taking longer to accomplish. While Township service levels remain the same during a Significant Weather Event, Public Works crews may take longer to keep up with the storm. Under the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25., Public Works crews continue to maintain roadways without time restraints, allowing personnel the time they require to clear municipal roadways safely.

Crews will return to regular operations as soon as the Significant Weather Event declaration has ended. This declaration is in effect until the end of the weather event

Additionally, the District of Muskoka has also declared a Significant Weather Event that impacts all District of Muskoka roads as of December 23, 2022.

The Township of Lake of Bays asks for the publics’ patience as our crews work through significant weather conditions and to stay off the roads, only traveling if absolutely necessary.
