Join Muskoka Authors Association March 9 With Award-Winning Author Kate Burrows

Join Muskoka Authors Association on Thursday, March 9 for an engaging talk with award-winning author, Kate Burrows. She will share her experience writing the Young Adult audience.

Kate Story is a genderqueer writer and theatre artist originally from Newfoundland, now living and working as an uninvited guest in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough, Ontario. She has published 6 novels, including Governor General’s Literary Award finalist Urchin. Her first novel Blasted won the Sunburst Award’s honourable mention. Her short fiction has made the CBC Literary Awards shortlist and appeared in World Fantasy and Aurora Award-winning collections; her debut collection of short stories Ferry Back the Gifts was published this year. Her climate change story “Animate” has been adapted for an international radio drama and virtual reality theatre performance, performed and broadcast across Europe.

Winner of the Ontario Arts Foundation’s K.M. Hunter Artist Award for theatre, Kate has worked with diverse theatre and dance artists. Her performance works cross boundaries between theatre and dance, and have been presented in Peterborough, Toronto, and St. John’s.
