Investigators Continue To Seek Public Information In Tay Township Shooting Investigation

The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is renewing its appeal to the public for information related to a homicide investigation in the Township of Tay.

On August 17, 2023, just after 2:00 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to reports of gunshots outside a residence on Maple Street. Upon arrival, officers located one individual with apparent gunshot wounds. The individual was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre and succumbed to their injuries on August 22, 2023.

The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Jamie MILLER of Victoria Harbour.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

The Southern Georgian Bay OPP Major Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
