Impaired Driver Charged For Going 183 km/hr On Hwy. 400 In Oro-Medonte

The Orillia OPP have arrested an individual for impaired driving, following a traffic stop in the Township of Oro-Medonte.

On May 9, 2023, at 10:15 a.m., an OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 400 northbound for a vehicle that was travelling in excess of 183 km/hr in a posted 100km/hr zone.

After further investigation, the officer entered into a drinking and driving investigation and determined the driver to be impaired.

As a result of this investigation, Ian De Castris 46 years of Innisfil has been charged with the following offences.
Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Adult Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed
Adult Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2023. As well, the accused faces 90-day drivers licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a 14-day vehicle impound.
