Bracebridge OPP have arrested and charged 52-year-old Garret Allison of Orillia after failing to stop for police after. On March 24, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. OPP received numerous calls reporting a pick-up truck was driving the wrong way on Highway 11 near Stephenson Road 1 in Bracebridge. Concerned members of the public all reported the vehicle nearly caused multiple head on collisions, including one with police.
Police conducted a traffic stop shortly after of the suspect vehicle and report there are no injuries as a result of the wrong way driver. Subsequent to an investigation, police charged Allison with the following:
- Operation While Impaired
- Dangerous operation
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Failure ore refusal to comply with demand
- Mischief
- Drive wrong way-divided highway
- Fail to stop for police
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, ON on April 25, 2023 to answer to the charges.
