On May 11, 2019 shortly before 7:30 pm, West Parry Sound OPP were called to a male attempting to steal a vehicle on Great North Road in Parry Sound. Police arrived on the scene and observed that two civilians had taken custody of the male. He was turned over to police who determined that he had consumed alcohol and driven the vehicle.
32-year-old Kirk Debadsige from Barrie was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentrate (80 plus)
- Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in Parry Sound Court on May 12, 2019. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days.
