Impaired By Drug And Possession Arrest In Midland

A driver is facing Impaired by Drug and Drug Possession charges after an incident on Highway 12 in Midland last evening.

On June 4, 2024 at about 5:30 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a driver of a pickup who was impaired by a drug, driving somewhere in Tay Township. Officers patrolled the area and observed the vehicle being driven erratically on Highway 12, westbound entering the Town of Midland.

Police stopped the vehicle and noted strong signs of impairment being displayed by the driver. The individual was placed under arrest and transported to detachment to perform an Drug Recognition Evaluation. During a search of the driver and vehicle a quantity of a controlled substance was located.

As a result of this investigation, Philip RHODENIZER, 41 years of Tay Township, was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on June 20, 2024. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.
