Mark your calendars, The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department in support of the Salvation Army, is ramping up for the 34th annual Project Porchlight Food Drive. Fire trucks, with the assistance of the O.P.P and Paramedic Services., will be coming house-to-house to collect healthy non-perishable food donations across our community onWednesday December 7th, starting at 6:00 pm.

The Project Porchlight Food Drive will operate in the same way as last year. Residents are asked to turn their porchlight on and place their non-perishable food donations at the end of their driveway or on their porch which will then be collected by first responders and volunteers.

A community tradition, the Project Porchlight Food Drive has been integral in supporting the Salvation Army who distributes the donations within the community throughout the year.

“As we approach the 34th year of the Salvation Army Food Drive, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department cannot stress enough the need for such an important community program.” notes Paul Calleja, Deputy Fire Chief for Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department. “Watch for us on December 7th and if you can, please donate.”

Bags for packing your food donations are available at various food stores throughout our communities. If you would rather drop food donations off in-person, there will be bins placed outside the following fire station locations during the day for drop-offs:
