Huntsville Festival Of The Arts Offering Artistic Opportunities All Winter

This winter, The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is encouraging the public to come out and play through a series of activities and events designed to engage your creativity, bodies and imagination.

Snow Village is back! After an incredibly successful 1st year, this free whimsical winter playground will once again return to Downtown Huntsville’s River Mill Park in February. Families will discover and enjoy interactive snow activities such as snow sculptures, snow forts and a snow labyrinth. Want to join in the fun of creating Snow Village? HfA is seeking volunteers to help build. Opportunities include assisting artists to carve snow sculptures, creating colourful ice orbs, and maintaining the park. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and an enjoyment of working in the great outdoors. Creation is scheduled to start mid January.

Are you interested in puppetry and performance? Then join HfA in their outdoor production of the Snow Queen. This classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen features giant puppets, elaborate costumes and music. The performances take place February 23-25 in River Mill Park. HfA is seeking community members interested in helping operate and maintain the puppets. Rehearsals and creation will take place Monday nights from 7pm-9pm starting January 16th and leading up to the performances.

HfA encourages anyone interested in participating or who wants to learn more to contact Dan Watson at dan@huntsvillefestival.ca or call 705-788-2787.

Now entering its 31st year, the Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that works to strengthen community and enhance the quality of life for residents of and visitors to the Huntsville area, by providing high quality entertainment, arts education and cultural enrichment.
