Town of Huntsville Council approved Mayor Scott Aitchison’s request for an unpaid leave of absence during a council meeting in Port Sydney on Aug. 26.
Aitchison’s leave of absence, which starts on Sept. 1 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 21, will allow him to focus on his campaign to become the Parry Sound-Muskoka member of parliament. The federal election is scheduled to take place on Oct. 21. Deputy Mayor Karin Terziano will assume all roles and responsibilities of the mayor during his absence. Councillor Jonathan Wiebe will fill in for the mayor during district council meetings as the alternate member to District of Muskoka Council.
