How To Get That Grant With Award-Winning Author, Heather O’Connor

Join Muskoka Authors Association on Thursday, June 8 to hear award-winning author Heather O’Connor talk about how to get writing grants. Her tips and techniques are drawn from her own experience as both applicant and adjudicator and from candid conversations with granting organizations.

Heather M. O’Connor is an award-winning children’s author and freelance writer based in Peterborough, Ontario. Her first picture book Fast Friends won the prestigious Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award and was selected as the 2022 TD Grade One Book Giveaway.

It also received an Ontario Arts Council Writer’s Reserve grant. So did her dual-language picture book Runs with the Stars. In fact, Heather has successfully applied for more than $35,000 in grants to support her literary career. Last year, she got an inside peek at the selection process as an adjudicator for the OAC Literary Creation grant.
