The Haliburton Highlands OPP have arrested and charged one person in relation to a robbery which occurred in Dysart et al earlier this month.
On April 3, 2023, at 4:21 pm a lone individual entered a business on Hops Drive in Municipality of Dysart et al. The person displayed an edged weapon and obtained a quantity of cash and alcohol.
On April 26th, 2023, at 2:32 pm, police received a call at a business on Highway 35 in the Township of Minden Hills. An alert employee observed suspicious activity at the business and contacted police. Responding officers immediately began an investigation and a suspect was located and arrested a short time later.
As a result of investigation into both incidents, Brian Bennett (age 56) of Dysart et al has been charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)
- Disguise with Intent (two counts)
- Robbery with Weapon
- Attempted Robbery with Weapon
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on April 27, 2023.
