Half-Load Restrictions To Be Lifted Monday In Gravenhurst

As the annual spring thaw period (March to May) gradually comes to an end, municipalities in the District of Muskoka will be lifting ‘half-load’ or ‘reduced/seasonal load’ restrictions on many of its roadways. Effective Monday, May 16, at 12:01 a.m., half-load restrictions will be lifted in the Town of Gravenhurst.

Vehicle operators are reminded that the purpose of seasonal load restrictions is to protect the road and road base from damage caused by heavy vehicle wheel loads while increasing their life cycle. Until May 16th, when the half-load restrictions are lifted, truck operators travelling through the Town of Gravenhurst are legally obligated to only use permitted designated routes. This same requirement extends to designated District of Muskoka and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) highways.

For more information on current half load restrictions in the Town of Gravenhurst, please visit our website at www.gravenhurst.ca/loads.
