Over the last five weeks, Fabricare Cleaning Centre, Rotary Club of Bracebridge – Muskoka Lakes and the District of Muskoka have been working together to keep Muskoka residents warm throughout the cold winter months.
The It Takes a Village winter coat drive campaign started on October 28th and accepted winter wear donations of coats, snow pants, toques and mitts throughout the month of November. The donated items were then made available to individuals in need throughout the Muskoka community.
“This drive could not have been made possible without the help of our community partners such as Fabricare and the Rotary Club of Bracebridge – Muskoka Lakes” shares Samantha Hastings, Commissioner of Community and Planning Services with the District of Muskoka. “We are so fortunate to also have had many District staff and their families offer support to the drive through washing and drying donated items after work. This support, combined with the donations from residents and local businesses are what truly make this coat drive a Muskoka community initiative.”
Over 500 coats were donated, washed, dried and transported to District of Muskoka Community Service Hubs located in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville and made available for pick up by Muskoka residents.
If you or your organization is interested in supporting the coat drive in 2020 please email communications@muskoka.on.ca.
