Gravenhurst Resident Charged With Impaired After Car Goes Through A Fence

Bracebridge OPP officers along with Muskoka Paramedic Services and Gravenhurst fire responded to a single vehicle collision (pictured) that occurred on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 1:30 a.m. Officers responded quickly, and located the vehicle through the fencing across from the Fire Department on First Street in Gravenhurst.

The single occupant made his way out of the driver’s side window and sustained no injuries.

Police arrested and charged 22-year-old Thomas Benns-Bowes from Gravenhurst, ON. The accused has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Vehicle and Failure or refusal to comply with demand and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 25, 2023 to answer to these charges.

In all cases where Impaired Driving charges are laid, the accused’s drivers’ license is suspended for 90 days and their vehicle is impounded.

The OPP are reminding all motorists to make alternate arrangements for transportation to avoid getting behind the wheel while impaired.
