Gravenhurst High School collected 180 pairs of socks to donate to shelters across Muskoka as part of 20K Sock Day, a charity initiative created by WE BE US clothing company, according to the Trillium Lakelands District School Board.

Gravenhurst High School contributed to WE BE US and their partners bringing in 28,066 pairs of socks for the 2019 event, surpassing the event goal of collecting 20,000 pairs by Feb. 22. WE BE US created 20K Sock Day to support their goal of helping Canadians facing homelessness.

Entrepreneurs Nick Foley and Phil Kerr started the company after the realization that about 200,000 Canadians experience homelessness each year. The name of the company comes from their slogan, “WE as a community can BE stronger if all of US work together.” They sell clothes, but they also focus on social good through donating clothes to homeless shelters across the country.
