Drug Impaired Charges After Collision In Tay Township

A collision involving a pickup truck has lead officers to arrest and charge a driver suspected of being impaired by a of drug.

On March 16, 2023 at 5:45 p.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP along with paramedics from Simcoe County EMS arrived at a collision on Old Fort Road near Hogg Valley Road in the Township of Tay. Assistance was offered to the driver of the damaged pickup truck, who was alone in the vehicle with a dog.

Fortunately, neither were injured however, officers discovered evidence of drug use and impairment being displayed by the driver. The individual was placed under arrest and a subsequent search located a quantity of a suspected controlled substance. The individual was transported to detachment for an evaluation.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle Podworny, 34 years of Tay Township, faces the following charges contrary to the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

The accused was released from custody to appear in Midland Court on March 16, 2023. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.
