District Wants to Hear From Huntsville’s Seasonal Residents to Complete a Survey

The District of Muskoka (www.muskoka.on.ca) needs the help of Huntsville’s Seasonal Residents to complete a survey in an effort to collect information about seasonal residents across the region. Message from District Chair, John Klinck:

See letter below

Dear Second Home Owner,

We’d like to get to know you better! The seasonal population is a vital component of Muskoka’s culture, traditions and overall economy. In fact, there are more seasonal residents than permanent residents across our region. Given the significance of the seasonal population, the District of Muskoka periodically collects information through an anonymous online survey called the Second Home Study. District Council works hard to shape services, programs and infrastructure to best meet the changing needs of all residents – so this survey is a very important tool for collecting the voices of our seasonal residents. The results also provide valuable information to local businesses and the individual Area Municipalities (Muskoka Lakes, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Lake of Bays and Georgian Bay).

If you’re new to the SecondHome Study, many of the survey questions are related to:

  • The size and characteristics of your second home household,
  • How often you and your visitors use your second home,
  • Your plans (if any) to move to Muskoka permanently, and
  • Your shopping preferences and what services you would like to have access to in Muskoka.

If you’ve completed the survey before, you’ll notice new sections about health care services and waste management. We know that these services are critical to our seasonal population, so we would like to use this opportunity to learn more about your needs.

To serve you better,we need your help! I would like to encourage all owners of second homes in Muskoka to take 15-20 minutes to complete the anonymous online survey. To protect your privacy, personally identifiable information will not be collected, and the data you provide will only be used on an aggregate basis. Although all of the information requested is important, please feel free to skip questions that do not apply to you or your situation, or that you are not comfortable answering. The study’s results will be made available on our website before the end of 2017.

You can subscribe to our website (www.muskoka.on.ca/subscribe) for updates on this study and many other important programs or initiatives that may impact you and your family. The success of this study relies on your participation, and I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.

John Klinck, District Chair
