District Of Muskoka Continues To Advance 10-Year Master Plan To Improve Paramedic Services

From The District of Muskoka

As part of the Muskoka Paramedic Services 10-Year Master Plan, the District is taking important steps to improve emergency services across Muskoka. The 10-Year Plan responds to Muskoka’s unique and growing needs and supports faster, stronger, and more responsive care for our communities.

As the plan progresses, residents can expect improved paramedic services across the District. Improvements include the relocation or construction of new paramedic stations, adding more Paramedics and emergency vehicles. These changes help Paramedics in delivering reliable emergency services no matter where you are in Muskoka.

Improving Paramedic Services in West Muskoka

A new Glen Orchard Paramedic Station, located halfway between Glen Orchard and Port Carling, is currently under construction. This new station is designed to improve efficiency and ensure stronger support for the West Muskoka community. In December 2024, a new Paramedic Response Unit (PRU) offering faster and more flexible emergency coverage will be located in the MacTier area. This means that although the MacTier Paramedic Station will close in late 2025, the PRU will already be in place, ensuring continuous and improved emergency services for the community.

The operations at the current Port Carling Station will be repositioned to the new Glen Orchard station in early 2025. The 12-hour ambulance currently located in MacTier will also be repositioned to Southern Georgian Bay to support faster response times to the community.
