Death On Wasauksing First Nation Leads To Charges

The Anishinabek Police Service (APS) and the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a death on Wasauksing First Nation.

On October 21, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the APS was conducting follow-up to a missing person on Lane D, Wasauksing First Nation, when officers located a deceased person.

Edgar Charbonneau, 45-years-old, from Wasauksing First Nation and Ellery Davis, 58-years-old, from Barry’s Bay were both arrested and charged with Indignity to a dead body.

Both accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on October 22, 2024.

The West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit and the APS Crime Unit are continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services. A post mortem will take place in Toronto at a later date.
