The Town of Bracebridge Community Recognition Committee is seeking nominations after extending the deadline for this year’s community awards program, according to an announcement from the town on March 21.
Through the Bracebridge Community Recognition Committee, council recognizes residents for their volunteer contributions each year and submits nominations for Provincial awards to the Ontario Heritage Trust and to the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade Honours and Awards Program. The Town is inviting community members and organizations to complete nominations for the awards, including the Annual Sports Award and the Bracebridge Baseball Wall of Fame. The deadline for nominations has been extended from March 21 to March 26 at 12 p.m.
“There are many outstanding people within this community that have made significant contributions,” said the announcement. “Some contributions are subtle, quiet acts of kindness on an ongoing basis while others contribute in higher profile endeavours, both very deserving of recognition.”
The Annual Sport Awards are given to the athlete, coach and team of the year. Those receiving an award have shown excellence in their sport and display good conduct on and off the playing surface. They must also be a credit to the community, have displayed good character and serve as role models for young athletes in the community.
The Bracebridge Baseball Wall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions or achievements to baseball in Bracebridge in one of four categories: Player, Coach/Official, Fan/Supporter and Builder/Sponsor.
Nomination packages are available at the Bracebridge Sportsplex or online at the town website. Nominations are due March 26 at 12 p.m. and can be submitted at the Bracebridge Sportsplex at 110 Clearbrook Trail in Bracebridge or via e-mail to cjanke@bacebridge.ca. The Awards Ceremony will be on May 28 at 7 p.m. at the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre.
