Update

A dinner time fire destroyed a cottage in West Gravenhurst Monday evening. At 6:30 pm on March 25th, the lone occupant of a cottage called 9-1-1 after discovering a fire in the walls and attic of the single story structure. By the time fire fighters from two different stations arrived the fire had already broken through the roof.
Eight trucks and 25 fire fighters responded to the incident and despite their efforts, the cottage was lost. A partial roof collapse and propane tanks adjacent to the cottage hampered efforts to bring the fire under control during the initial phase of the fire attack. Fire fighters spent several hours at the scene.
There were no injuries and preliminary damage estimates have been set at $350,000.00. The fire is not considered suspicious, but no cause has been determined.
