Charges Laid In Relation To A Bomb Threat At Orillia City Centre

The Orillia OPP have charged an individual in relation to a bomb threat at the Orillia City Centre.

On April 1, 2022, shortly after 12 p.m., police were dispatched to the Orillia City Centre on Andrew Street South, after being alerted to a threat. No explosive device was located.

The Orillia OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), conducted an extensive investigation, leading to an arrest.

Ricardo Groen, age 35 of Orillia has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Uttering Threats – three counts

·      Harassing Communications – three counts

·      Breach of Recognizance

·      Failure to Comply with Undertaking

The accused was held for a bail hearing on June 2, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.
