Charges Laid In Connection With Leaked Government Documents

Investigation into Release of Files in 2019

The Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Toronto resident following a lengthy investigation involving leaked Government of Ontario documents.

In February 2019, the OPP was notified by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care of a request to review irregularities related to the handling of government-related documents. In April 2019, the government provided the OPP with information relating to these allegations. The OPP Anti-Rackets Branch assessed the information and a Criminal Investigation Branch-led investigation was subsequently commenced.

Following a lengthy and thorough investigation, police have charged Christina Hronis, aged 49 years of Toronto, with Breach of Trust by Public Officer and Unauthorized Use of a Computer.

The accused is scheduled to appear on July 27, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice (Old City Hall) in Toronto.

The OPP will not comment further on evidentiary matters before the court.
