A couple from Gravenhurst is reporting that their vehicle was stolen in the early hours of Aug. 27, and now they’re warning other locals to be more careful about locking up.
The car was stolen from their driveway on Fairview Drive in Gravenhurst between midnight and 8 a.m., according to residents Kristy and Brent Bridle. The stolen vehicle is a 2006 dark grey Mitsubishi Outlander in mint condition with no notable blemishes to distinguish it (see photos). It has a black cloth interior, orange reflective tape on the inside of the doors and factory-installed roof racks. The car has approximately 147,000 kilometres on it and the plate number is CKJB035.
The cargo area was also loaded with work tools including complete standard and metric wrench, socket and driver sets along with other construction equipment and tools. The theft follows recent reports of suspects attempting to gain entry and steal items from vehicles on Kingswood Drive, just two streets away from the Bridles.
The couple was thrilled to have the car, which they paid for in full, but it only lasted for six weeks. Kristy said they haven’t always been diligent about keeping the car locked because they felt safe in Gravenhurst, but now, they’ve learned their lesson and are encouraging locals to check and double check that their cars are locked every night.
The Bridles don’t expect to get their car back, but they ask locals that are selling a used vehicle in good condition to consider reaching out to them at bbridle@hotmail.com.
Residents are encouraged to check dash cam and security camera footage. Anyone with information is asked to call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
