On Wednesday June 23, 2021 at 11 p.m., members from the Street Crime Unit of the OPP, executed a Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on the Main Street of Burks Falls.
A search of the residence led to the seizure of prohibited firearms and ammunition, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids, $ 6,355 – in Canadian currency and 23 cannabis plants. The value of drugs seized is believed to be approximately over $ 37,000.
As a result of the investigation:
James Downs, 47 years-of-age from Burks Falls, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to comply with probation order,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), – 2 counts,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Possession or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession unmarked cigarettes
- Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
Paige Foreman, 26 years-of-age from Bracebridge, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
- Traffic in Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking opioid (other than heroin),
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
The accused were scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court on June 24, 2021 in Parry Sound.
