Attempted Robbery On Trail Between Penetanguishene And Midland

On the morning of July 11, 2021 the Southern Georgian Bay OPP received a complaint of an attempted robbery near Harbourview Drive in the Town of Midland. At approximately 6:45 a.m. the female complainant was jogging on a paved pathway connecting the towns of Penetanguishene and Midland, when an unknown male made physical contact with her from behind. The startled victim turned to face the male who demanded that she hand over her bag. The victim yelled at the male and told him that she was calling the police causing the suspect to flee on foot. The female was able to leave the area safely.

The suspect is described as being 5’9″ tall, medium build with a dark complexion. He was wearing black track pants, a black hoodie, and a baseball hat. The investigation is continuing, the OPP encourages anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward.

The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their surroundings and personal safety at all times.
